Default 40 Gas pedal linkage

Just installed a Eddie Meyer high rise in my 40 coupe and due to the long distance from the gas pedal to the 2x2 carbs, there is a lot of flex in the linkage. Any solutions out there?

Spliced rod with locking ends got me there.
