Hi there,

Sixteen tons: Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store
Meaning you can't afford to pass on!
84 isn't absolute, but, in the realm of reality.

I gather you have an "ex" but no kinfolk.

Possible solution:

Will and testement the gitar's to an auction house under condition that the proceeds go to a charity of your choice.

Will and testement the cars to whomever you fancy.

Then, what about the property?

FORD was just coming through with ALT at that point. Only high-end and emergency got them. being a P-CODE, it should have the ALT unless some other option was ordered in the particular POLICE PACKAGE.

Maybe an idea, as that car is extremely uncommon/rare, as it has GALAXIE TRIM and is a 4DR HDPT WITH a POLICE PACKAGE. As much as we would miss you, it would be a shame for the car to be scrapped.

Maybe leave a descriptive letter over the sun-visor or in the glove box so that possibly someone will notice it?

No disrespect intended ... I truly hope your health stays good.

Hey Mel,
This would be OFF TOPIC, were it not for the fact that the song was a hit by "Tennessee" Ernie FORD.

Actually, from what the monthly blood tests show is that I have the metabolism of a 50 year old. The cocktail of medications that I take seems to have had the effect of remarkably retarding the aging process, while strengthening the recuperative powers. If you will remember back when I had a Squamous Cell Carcinoma surgically removed from my Left Forearm, it was supposed to take a year to heal. It was healed up in three months, and ten days.

Were it not for the effects that are the result of the catastrophic murdercycle crash in 1987, I would essentially be in the condition of a person in their 50s.

Yes, but I have a "family" of Felines.

The Guitars going to someone unknown is what I'm avoiding. Why would I trust them to someone who is going to bestow them on some stranger. Hell, I can do THAT myself!

That too is easier said than done. It needs to be someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to automobiles, and appreciates RARE stuff. Will just have to wait and see what happens.

One of the stipulations of the State of Texas is: For providing Medical Insurance in the form of Medicai, the State gets my real estate when I demise. So THAT is THAT.

But there is so much more that is included: Felines; Tools; Lightshow equipment; Concert Equipment; Computers; Library; and etc. It boggles me to contemplate the problem that someone will have disposing of all the STUFF.

Anyway, everything happens when and how it is supposed to happen, but I appreciate your concern.

Take care.

Hey Mr. K,
While Ms. American DOES have an Alternator, she is otherwise a PERFECTLY PURE vehicle. No foof of any kind.

AND, as mentioned previously, the components from the Pilot Bearing in the Flywheel, to the Rear U-Joint, are the only UN-RESTORED parts of Ms. American. EVERYTHING ELSE has been properly massaged to the point of being BETTER than ORIGINAL!

That is not counting the Seats&Headliner. The Seats need to be completely redone. And there is a NEW Headliner here on the Shelf awaiting installation.

The Rear Seats are in storage.

Also, there is a NEW Starter, a NEW Electronic Distributor, and a bunch of NEW Parts such as Bushing, Seals, Gasket Sets, and etc., that are safely stored, along with ALL the ORIGINAL stuff (Mustard Top Ignition Coil and Brackets, Rebuilt Alternator, PI Cam, and etc.)

This other NEW stuffs were acquired because they were going to be needed to replace OTHER stuffs that at the time appeared to need replacing. But then what they were meant to replace straightened up with some "proper" attention, at which time the NEW stuff became just EXTRA stuff.

Actually, am suspecting that I won't be able to get a Driver's License when this one expires on my birthday in 2023. At THAT time I will HAVE to do something to make sure that Ms. American and Lorrie Van Haul are provided for.

It has been my experience that everything happens JIT (Just In Time). I have no reason to expect it NOT to happen in this instance also. We'll see.

Am on track to being IMMORTAL.

Besides, there are OTHER factors involved. And with "no disrespect intended" either, am going to have to quote JBS Haldane: "Not only is existence stranger than we think, it is stranger than we CAN think." I have reason to suspect that there is a whole OTHER situation afoot, which will only be revealed at the time it will be revealed.

Mr. K, what is your age?

I am @ 71 at this writing. It (aging) has been put on hold after the last tragic birthday. I have too many aches and pains to get use to on the time left and of course there is the bad case of ugly.

I keep getting questionnaires from John Hopkins, should I be concerned?

Hey Mr. K,
We first met in 2007. You seemed to be wise beyond your years.

I got the impression that you had experience with Fords that was well beyond that of the others who were also on FMF at the time.

My referencing the term "Hard-Top Convertible" when referring to Ms. American, took many by surprise. They'd never heard the term before.

Remember Mr. Deadhorse? He seemed to be totally nonplussed by it. His comments were a mixture of amazement, and incredulity. His comment: "I'd like to see THAT!" was part curiosity, and part challenge. And he was joined by Deb Demele, and Gary Kitchens.

My being a NEW arrival, impelled him to doubt what I had written, and THAT lasted till YOU intervened, and explained to everyone that back-in-the-day, that what is today is simply called a "Hard-Top", was called a "Hard-Top Convertible". THAT seemed to satisfy most of those involved. Then once everyone had digested THAT bit of information, the realization that Ms. American, was not just a Four-Door without a "B-Pillar", but was also a PI seemed to FURTHER "boggle" the locals there.

It was THAT "boggle" that was my FIRST realization that Ms. American was GENUINELY unique and unusual.

At the time, I knew that she was somehow "special" due to having stopped at a Classic Car place in Houston looking for Shock Absorbers (which BTW, on the REAR of a PI are what would be considered up-side-down), and when I told the guy that I needed Shocks for a PI, he looked out the window at Ms. American, and said: "That's NOT a Police Interceptor". He then took the time to go out and look at the old Gal's Warranty Plate, and then at the VIN Tab over the Heater.

At that point, he perked up, and we went back into his shop, and he made a phone call, explaining to whomever he had called what he had just seen.

When he had finished with his call, he told me that he didn't have any Shocks for a PI but that he could get them, but they would have to be a "SPECIAL ORDER".

His next step was to give me an exorbitant quote, which I had to refuse because at the time they were un-affordable.

THEN he asked me if I'd like to sell Ms. American! Of course I wouldn't.

I went quite a while before finding Shocks that were configured properly, and when I finally found them, and set out to install them, I found that before Ms. American came to live with me that someone had put Shocks on her, but they were just NORMAL Shocks installed up-side-down, and they were full of water.

The Shocks that were RIGHT for a PI came from the John Mecom Goodyear Tire outlet at the Hobby Airport in Houston, which was also the headquarters of Mecom Racing Team.

I know what you mean. But a strange thing has happened on THAT account. In the past twenty years, since being diagnosed with this Terminal Liver Illness in December of 1998, that was supposed to kill me in five months, there has occurred a "separation " between ME, and the Body.

I don't know if this happens normally as one ages, but I have come to realize that I am NOT my Body. IT aches and pains, like IT sweats and strains, and while I can "feel" what it is feeling, it is ITS feeling, and NOT mine. I am able to make it DO stuff that hurts, but I have also learned that when THAT happens, that I have to be considerate of it, and not to over-do it because IT doesn't stop hurting when I stop making it do whatever.

It's a matter of being careful not to "damage" IT, which is of what ITS pain is warning.

They are probably wanting to initiate a "screening program"? At Seventy-One, you should be on Medicare, and Medicare prefers (almost to the point of demanding) that one gets screened for health issues. They'd rather have you find out early if something is amiss, than have you wait till it is already SERIOUS and is going to cost a LOT to deal with.

The main things that they screen for is cancer of all kinds, prostate, thyroid, cardio, blood pressure, kidney, liver, pancreas, and gall bladder issues.

It's a matter of finding a GOOD Primary Care Physician, and working out a schedule of screening. It's not something that just happens automatically. It's like having a maintenance schedule for one's car. Many are unaware that it is not only available, but necessary. The BODY is a vehicle (of sorts).

Was out and about in Ms. American today. She does quite well, although there is an occasional "shudder" which I suspect is due to the Pilot Bearing in the Flywheel allowing the Clutch to grab the Driven Disk a bit off-center, which "shakes" the Transmission. When THAT shudder is felt, all it takes is to push IN on the Clutch Pedal, rev the 3.14 a bit, and slowly re-engage the Clutch.

By the time we got home, put everything away, had something to eat, and a bit of a nap, it was too hot to do anything outdoors.

But am all caught up on everything, so that means that tomorrow morning while it's still cool, will be working on Lorrie Van Haul's Sheet Metal Center Section installation, and ultimately painting with Herculiner Bed Liner.

Anyway, when THAT is finished, am going to take a couple of days to catch up on other stuff, and then we're going to be starting on Lorrie's Steering System.

Hope this finds YOU feeling well, and taking care.

JC

Now you see why I participate so much, everyday I learn something new. I had no idea there were special shocks for the 61/64 PC. You would think that the same were also used on the HP cars but wasn't.

No, I think they are monitoring me for possible study when I am tagged and bagged.

So what you are saying is that by using state MEDICAID, they will take your possessions after death to settle the account? I knew that if you came into money that they would require immediate payback but not after death.

Luckily, I only have MEDICARE to worry about. Thanks for that revelation.

Hey Mr. K,
It appears to be a multi-level type of knowledge. Have always appreciated that you seemed to know the "reason" or "logic" behind something in question.

Don't know WHY the difference. When Ms. American's Front Suspension was rebuilt a relatively short while back, NEW Shocks were installed all around. It seems that since that FIRST set of Rear Shocks were acquired, that the rarity of them has lessened because when they were last gotten, there were more choices available. The ones that got put on were "Classic" Brand.

I have that arrangement with the Liver Center in Houston. There is a reason. This Liver Issue is called PBC (Primary Biliary Cirrhosis), and one person in 10,000 gets it. Out of 100 people who get PBC (that's 100 out of 1,000,000), only 2 of them will be Male. So only two out of a million people who get PBC are men. Not many Liver Specialists ever get to see a Male with PBC. That makes getting an opportunity to "study" (to use YOUR term) a reason for doing all kinds of special things.

Like when I first was found to have this condition, they were amenable to provide care, and meds for free. It also was an occasion to try experimental stuff. And they were quite interested in being able to have the body for study.

My attitude was that they were somehow mistaken.

Normally, when someone gets this malady, and it finally gets to the point of HAVING to seek medical attention, the condition will have progressed to where it is fatal in about five months.

Walter Peyton, the football player got the sister disease to PBC which is called PSC (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis), and he died in five months.

The difference in the two diseases is that PSC affects the Veins and Ducts going TO and FROM the Liver. PBC affects the Veins and Ducts INSIDE the Liver.

The reason that I didn't die in five months was because I wasn't seeking medical attention because of the disease. I was seeking a Hip Replacement because of having been in a murdercycle crash. Then when they did the lab work to determine what is called Prothrombin Time (that how fast blood will clot), they found that mine was elevated.

ProTime is a function of the Liver. So they did the Liver Function Tests and found anti-nuclear, and anti-mitochondrial antibodies.

When these anti-bodies are destroying the nucleus, and mitochondria of the Liver Parenchyma (tissue), it releases a couple of enzymes into the blood stream.

One is called AST (Aspartate Transferase), the other is called ALT (Alanine Transferase).

My ALT and AST were elevated. AHA! Liver Disease!!! Going to die in five months! BUT... they found this just as it had started... Not because I was feeling bad. Thus the therapy was especially effective, and I didn't die.
Quote:

Not "possessions". Just real estate.
Quote:
I knew that if you came into money that they would require immediate payback but not after death.
What has to be remembered is that Government is just a Business. Business principles apply.
Quote:
Luckily, I only have MEDICARE to worry about. Thanks for that revelation.
Well, the Texas Medicare is WONDROUS. It pays for EVERYTHING that Medicare doesn't pay for. Plus it pays everything that MEDICARE charges. Plus it pays for Meds, except for the cost that the Pharmacy charges for the little plastic bottles, labels, and the filling of the little plastic bottles.

But the Liver Center in Houston monitors my condition with monthly Blood Tests.

I have OpenOffice Spread Sheets with Monthly Blood Test Results going back to November of 1998. Have done the research into what each test is for. I know as much about this disease as do the MDeities. PLUS, I know how it FEELS, which they don't. I've learned to use the proper terms, and I've become more of a "colleague" than just a "patient".

Anyway, time to go feed the Felines, and get on with the day. Am going to install Lorrie Van Haul's Sheet Metal Center Section between her Diamond Deck Plate Fenders this morning while it's cool.

Hope you are well. Enjoy the KNOCKERS!

That's an easy one JC. One car (PC) is a highway car and has to handle well under all conditions. The HP car(s) were high powered straight line cars from the factory. Their shocks were designed to control axle hop/spring wrap from hard acceleration.

I had a 64 GALAXY 500 390/4S when I left for the ARMY. I also had one beautiful girlfriend to make it appear even better. Guess that may be a reason I am so interested in yours.

As for the KNOCKERS now, all I can do is smile and when she turns to go get a little misty ...

Hey Mr. K,
Back in the late 60s, I had a 1959 Studebaker Hawk with a 402 CID Packard Engine that my next door neighbor had had in a G-Gasser that he had crashed. He traded the Packard Engine, Transmission, and Rear End with me for the Engine, Transmission, and Rear End out of the Hawk to put into a 1953 Studebaker Coupe. In order to control Axle Hop/Spring Wrap, "Traction Masters" (remember them?) were installed. The Rear End out of the G-Gasser had four Shock Absorbers, and with the addition of the Traction Masters, it had absolutely no issues during hard acceleration

Am afraid that Ms. American doesn't come equipped with a "beautiful girlfriend", but I might be able to add a GORGEOUS Feline!

But you can still appreciate an attractive lady, especially one bringing something to eat!

Anyway, time to feed the Felines. Am working on Lorrie Van Haul's Sheet Metal Center Section's Draw Latches. Got one installed yesterday. It was quite a process. The second one will be done today. Should go a lot faster since all the stuff necessary to do the Caper has been found, and how to do it has been learned.

Take care.

Hey Mel,
No. Didn't notice that they were there. Then when THIS post came, I tried to look at the Video. Tried three times. It would start to play, then would freeze. Then a window would open that said: "This page has become unresponsive."

About cutting the Steering Shaft... Had thought about that, but first wanted to make sure that the Gemmer Y4D-335 is NOT a Stub Shaft Version. If it ISN'T then was going to communicate with Dan Jones, and Kal Uthe at Lares Corp to see what THEY had to say about maybe cutting the Steering Shaft. It would take figuring out a way to RECONNECT it afterwards.

So how are YOU doing?

Am braving the Summer Heat&Humidity by working in the morning till it just gets TOO HOT&HUMID to be out. Everything is moving along. Am hopefully going to be installing the Second Hood Hold Down Pin this morning. Checked yesterday, and it appears that it CAN be mounted on the Starboard Front Frame Rail without being in the way of the Adjusting Mechanism on the Gemmer Y4D-335. We'll see.

With the installation of the Second Hood Hold Down Pin, Lorrie is going to be able to be driven. Am going to spend some time rearranging the work area.

Have to move Karel, the Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor.

Have to move Lorrie's Front Bumper.

Need to clean up the ENTIRE Work Area.

Then may either move Lorrie South into a constantly shady area, OR may turn her around, so that her Front End in facing North which will put her Front End it in the Shade of its OWN Body.

Again, we'll see.

In any case, sorry that I didn't notice that you had sent a PM. Will have to start noticing that.

Wish I could have seen the Video, but for what ever reason, it goes "un-responsive". Will try it again.

Thanks for sending it.

Hi there,

I am STILL not allowed in Dodge!

So, must post here. You might try your own search:

Wheeler Dealers S10E10 FSM Syrena 105L

Basiclly:

Cut the shaft about 6" from the box.

On reassembly: taper both ends of the shaft to get a strong weld.
Insert a rod, about 10" long, inside the shaft to insure straightness and strength.
Grind off excess weld.
Drill holes in a 10" sleeve that slides over the shaft. Spot weld the holes.

Hmmm! Wonder what is their problem?

Did this. Think I know what the problem with the unresponsive page is. It did it again with me pasting the link above into the browser. Am using BRAVE Browser, and it blocks ads. I think when Wheeler Dealer's page gets denied putting up an ad, it becomes "unresponsive". So I tried the Microsoft 10's Edge Browser, and the video came right up! Haven't the time to watch it right now, but will take a look and report back. OK?

Can imagine this.

Have been researching the kinds of Couplers that are used to connect Steering Shafts to Steering Gear Boxes. There are a number of them. Too complex to describe, but will do the research again, and provide links to show examples.

BTW, how in the heck did you find this link? The vehicle that the guy is referencing is a REALLY weird car, and an example in relatively good shape is EXPENSIVE!

Have spent most of the afternoon cleaning up the Driveway Work Area.

Have moved Karel, the Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor, and used her to drag Lorrie's Diamond Deck Plate Front Bumper to a location that is out of the way.

Am going to relocate Lorrie so that she is in more shade for longer periods of time.

Then find where Karel can be parked so that she can be gotten out to mow the Lawns.

Lorrie's Front Bumper was on a piece of Carpet, and wanted to get the Carpet out from under the Bumper. Am unable to lift even one end of the Bumper, but was able to tip it over to where it was on a couple of 2X4 Blocks. Then put a CrowBar under one end, and pried it up high enough to put another 2X4 Block under the end. Did the same thing to the other end, and that lifted the Bumper high enough and the Carpet could be pulled out. So that is where it sits at the moment.

It's above 90 degrees outside right now, and my T-Shirt is dripping wet. Have put everything away, and am sitting in front of a Box Fan staying cool.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time, and making the effort to help figure out what to do with Lorrie's Steering if perchance the Gemmer Y4D-335 is NOT a Stub Shaft Version.

We're getting close to the time when we find out.

There are just a few more things that need doing with the Sheet Metal Center Section, and then we'll start the interesting part of all this folderol.

Hope you're staying cool. Take care.

JC

Wheeler Dealers is a TV serie on Discovery. I remembered this episode and looked it up.

I may have a plan "B" up my sleeve! Time will tell.

Hey Mel,
Have to say that from what I saw of the episode, the content is quite strange. They were being quite effusive about an ugly little car that had some weird mechanical features.

Today is going to be an organizing day. Too complex to explain, but will set the scene for the main part of this whole Caper. It's going to entail a bunch of detailing work on the area between Lorrie's Diamond Deck Plate Fenders.

The Weather Guessers are taking one last shot a predicting REALLY hot temperatures. That's the BAD NEWS. The GOOD NEWS is that I've seemed to have adjusted and acclimated to the HEAT&HUMIDITY, and am almost comfortable with it. Am just having to be VERY aware of when enough is enough.

Hope you are well.

Would I do a thing like THAT?

Actually, have been working long hours, in the BLAZING HEAT on Lorrie Van Haul, the ONLY surviving (out of 3,500 built) 1967 Dodge P200 Post Office Vehicle.

Lorrie is presently in the process of having her Gemmer Y4D-335 Right Hand Drive Manual Steering Gear Box rebuilt.

There has been TWO years of research put into the Caper.

Have spent the past TWO months in preparation to remove the ENTIRE (from the Steering Wheel to the connection of the Pitman Arm to the Drag Link) Steering System, which was finished just YESTERDAY.

Have started this morning cleaning all the Components.

If you'd like to catch up on all that has been done to Lorrie Van Haul (with JPGs)... click here:

https://ramchargercentral.com/vans-caravans/

The reason that there has been little to no activity by me HERE at FordBarn is because everything that has been done is "off topic" HERE.

And no one has posted anything HERE to which I could respond.

Here it is.

Are you working on anything "FORD"?

'"Long Beach"?'

That non Ford thing you did in Long Beach.

Our non Ford instrument got here about a week and a half ago.

'working on anything "FORD"?'

Thinking on it mostly.

Our Lincoln 430 angle block V8 is safe and sound in open storage.

So not handy to tear down and see what is up with it.

You can't have everything!

Plans for near road racer/rolling engine test stand are shaping up most excellent!

Simplicity is our motto!

Figured out to use whole front suspension off a factory car.

Man that is going to work out like a dream!

What is a Lorrie? I am not a good guesser.

Have a nice day

Hey Bob,
What about it? Has anyone ever told you that most of what you write is "cryptic"?
Quote:

More "cryptic". You are meaning the Viola?

Are you asking me? Or are you quoting me? If you are quoting me, you should learn how to do it. If you don't do it right, what you post is unintelligible.

If you can't do it correctly, am going to ask you to stop posting to me. If you don't do it correctly, am going to stop responding.

Would guess that's as good an excuse as any.

Simplest thing is just to continue to "think on it mostly". That way, you won't EVER have to do it.

If you figure out how to use the whole rear suspension, and everything in between, and you won't even have to do it. What could be more simple?

Did you read my post about Lorrie? Here, let me quote ME again:

Had you read THAT, you wouldn't have to guess.

Sure. You too.
