Default Black crackle..THE DAY OF RECKONING !

Painted yesterday afternoon. In an hour or two when the masking paper is removed, all will be revealed...success or a total shambles !

Appears a success. Without major dismantling the motor was painting in situ. Tricky but seemingly possible. Seemingly, following the instructions on the can has done the trick. The paint is still soft to the touch and may take many days to harden.

So at twenty nine quid a can the HD paint appears to have done the trick !

It looks great, thanks for the update. The whole engine bay looks great, actually.

Thanks Mart....I've owned this car since 1972 and every time I look at the engine bay there's something else that needs fettling. Like you, stops me from going totally NUTS !

Looks brilliant. The whole car has come out swimmingly. The crackle finish looks even better than I thought, like the "smaller" "tighter" crackle finish a lot!!!!

Eastwood use to make a krinkle spray bomb. I have a can, but have yet to use it. I'm curious as how to do it as well.

I took KiWin's advice and went for the "best that money can buy" which was the Harley Davidson version.

Here's how I did it. Gently got the can up to room temperature using a fan heater. Gave the can a really GOOD shake and sprayed on 3 thin coats allowing about ten minutes between coats. You Tube videos suggest heating the paint with a heat gun but was not required. First time I have tried this and I think Lady Luck was on my side.

If I manage to get this Hemi Cuda the valve covers will need the same treatment

Great Job tiger...... so glad the HD paint worked out I have tried many other brands & as I stated the HD paint worked best by far for me. Did you get it from "Warr's HD in London? I have been there many years ago.
Cheers
TP

WOW tiger, you could paint that entire car ......well, maybe not. Really love the A M.
That & an XK 140 are my 2 fav UK autos. However, FLATHEADS FOREVER ! I always thought it would be neat to have an XK kit car with a hot Flathead v8 Ford under the bonnet ....cheers. mike

You can always put an aerosol spray can in a bucket of hot water and warm it up. It makes the aerosol expand also.

Paint came from Sycamore in Birmingham (UK). They are HD dealers. Interestingly; the longer the paint is left to dry, the better the finish !

Good guess Keith but as always; you're wrong ! If at first you don't succeed, try and try and try again.

Reminds me of an electronic radio interference shield.

That Harley crinkle paint looks really nice, your ready for Pebble Beach.
I think I'll use it on my 1966 GT-350 valve covers. I won't complain about the price that's the cheapest thing the Harley dealer sells.
