Andrews book gives you information on how to cut one of these boards or you can buy one from the vendors. If I remember correctly, the board needs to be long enough so the peddle sits 1" from the first "slot" with the other end of the board against the seat. Then the next slot is 1/2" toward firewall, second slot another 1/2" toward firewall and the third slot another 1/2". So therefore there in no specified length, it depends on the type of car, where the seat is and etc. The purchased ones are adjustable. See below.

The book says to measure from seat to peddle then add 1 inch for the first slot then 1/2 in for next slot then 1/2 in for next slot. Each slot 1/2 inch lower than the other. Nothing about seat position. Keep your seat wherever its is now or most comfortable position for driving. So board neds to be at least 2inches longer than measurement. From seat to peddle. It does work nice.
