"Poly" brake lines...
I've done a few brake lines (flared and bent) in steel. Next project I wound up using copper nickel which I much prefer. I don't even want to think about working with stainless. But our local parts house has "poly" lines. They're kind of an ugly dark green color but the guys who work there don't seem to know much about them. Can anyone explain them to me? Thanks!!

I never heard of the poly brake lines. Hope that someone will chime in and let us know
about them. |

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
I've used them, and I didn't think they were any different except maybe the finish on them.

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
The "Poly" part is just a plastic coating that is applied to help prevent corrosion due to road salt etc.
Otherwise the tube has the same form-ability characteristics as copper-nickel tube.

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
Next time I go to get something, I'll take a magnet to see it it's just coated steel and I'll report back.

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
Where did you get the idea that copper-nickel brake line is poly-coated??

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
Goggle it
Underneath the PVF-coating is a double-wall, low carbon steel, copper brazed tubing which meets all international and U.S. requirements for brake tubing. The difference being that Poly-Armour offers 30 times the corrosion resistance of galvanized steel alone.

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
It's standard steel brake pipe with a thin green plastic skin on it. I think it may have been (or might still be) OEM fitment for some manufacturers.

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
i used a piece to repair a fuel rail on my truck. I used silicone bronze with a TIG to connect it so I'm guessing they are steel. Finish sanded off but seemd to be on there good.

Re: "Poly" brake lines...
I replaced my rear lines on a daily driver after they rusted out. After about 5 or 6 years they looked like pretzel sticks.
