panels suitably resting on soft blankets or similiar, a competent assistant to hold things, then put rod into a good variable speed drill, a little oil, and slowly insert rod.

Mount the two sides of the top and then gently tap the rod in the loops starting on the back edge. This will require a helper to hold the hood side while you put in the rod, is probably the easiest way to do it. That is what I did on mine.

You will have to tap the last 3 inches --- but by then, you are done. |
