Question Bracket for the Phaeton top rest

I have a 1929 Phaeton. When folded down, the canvas top rests on two support saddles on studs that go into the body. Inside the body there is some kind of bracket. This is missing on my car. Does anybody know what it looks like? Do you have a photograph?

Grateful for any info!

Hope this is what you needed. One pic from inside, and one through the hole from the outside. Note that this is a '30 four door phaeton. I suspect they are the same, but the experts will know for sure.

The bracket in the picture above is just like the brackets in my 29 phaeton and mounted the same way. They are almost impossible to find. I have an extra one I found I can take a picture of if that will help you. There is a 1/2" threaded rod that screws into the large D nut installed in the bracket. These studs are available from model A parts suppliers but are very expensive for what they are. You can just use some 1/2" round bar stock and thread the end about 5/8" to work just fine. There is a special bracket that slides onto the stud to support the top that are available form model A suppliers.

Thanks a lot Great Lakes Greg and Rusty! Just what I needed!
Does't seem too difficult to make either.

I don't have anything left of the wood frame, so I will have to restore that too. But I suspect that part is easier.

Fantastic forum, this. I have been looking for this info for 30 years since I bought the car in Brazil and now I got it in less than 24 hours.

Rusty,
I already have the studs and the saddle on the outside. What I didn't know was what the bracket on the inside looked like. Please post a picture of your bracket, although I suspect it looks very similar to Great Lakes Greg's.

Interesting thing about the top rest studs. I bought a pair of them thinking that they would save me time but certainly not money. When I received them from Mac's, they both were about 3/4" too short to work. I had some long stainless steel bolts that I chopped to length and then I polished them pretty. The stainless studs were cheaper and better than what was offered out of the catalog.
