I would like to know more about them and how they compare.

If they survived in the Soviet Union, they must have been pretty good.

Charles Sorensen went over to there to help them. He tells the story in his book, My Forty Years with Ford. They were already making Fordson tractors that they had copied. The quality was inferior. He also saw people who had worked in the Ford plant in Dearborn, immigrants who went back, I guess, so they were "advisors" to the Sovs. His book is a great read. Out of print in hard copy, but it may still be available in some libraries. You can find a e-version. I got mine from Barnes & Noble.

I was down at mikes picking up some parts back in the fall and chatting with him. he told me he was shipping parts to Russia from time to time, so there must be some restoration going on there.

I have seen some Gaz Jeeps and one Gaz AA truck here in the UK.

They turn up at the Historic Military shows .

I had a fairly large collection of used A parts. A man in Moscow asked for pictures. Two days later a friend of his showed up with cash and a truck. No haggle. He said he was shipping them to Moscow.he was amazed the prices were so cheap! Wayne

My understanding was that the Ford employees were offered large salaries to come and work in Russia when Ford sold the A equipment to the Russians. Once they arrived in Russia, they were not allowed to leave.................

That was the union leader, Walter Reuther and his brother, who barely made it out. His brother, (who name I can't recall) was blinded with acid later, had a TV spot in the fifties with Walter Winchell , IIRC. Many were not so lucky to get out. And, from what I have heard, Henry Ford never got a dime from Stalin! Reparations?
