Default Shock links

Putting new shocks on 31 CCPU. What is the preference dog bone or tubular links? It is not a show truck.

We have had great luck using the original style links. Just keep them greased. I also think they look better, just my view.

Tube shocks. Dog bones wear out much faster but go on much easier than tubes.

Dog bones are a more direct link between the shock and the axel, so the shock works more directly than with the spring loaded tubeular links. Ford changed to dog bone shock links in 32, and kept a similar link all the way to 48. If you do not care about high point judging, I would recommend the dog bones. Lube the rubbers with silicone grease, and they will last a long time.

I have had dogbones on my 68B cabriolet for 25 years and have never had to change the rubber balls . Around 6000 miles and I did not use any lubricant .

John in still lovely hot weather Suffolk County England .
