Question New oil pan

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a NEW oil pan for a 1930 A model? Your help would be appreciated. John Spragg - Australia

Hey Hotrodfil,
That's a neat picture, thanks ! Got to collect something,eh
I have three extra A pans and one B pan myself !
If in relatively dry country/areas and /or if taken care of, what is there to ruin a pan...maybe a curb or tree stump ! Not like a rod/babbit or even cylinder block that gets worn in use.

You don't happen to have an aluminum one do you ?

Nope. That heap came with a job lot of stuff in a container from North Dakota, with a matching pile of flywheels. Strangely the rest of the engine components seemed to disappear before the container was opened despite being in the pictures I was sent...

It would take some very large presses to in several steps to make a new pan... The likely reason no repos made or likely ever will be.

I was there for the opening so it's fair to say they never made it across the threshold in the first place. Still - plenty of sumps to fit Tod's new blocks!

Amen to that ! Tods NEW blocks are going to be fun to enhance with goodies, which gathering in advance. Regarding 'sump' , I'm thinking a new aluminum B pan !

well what would destroy an oil pan is water/rust. oil is a water repellent and most model A engines leak oil thus coating the outside - the inside is usually left with oil in it , mix with a little road dust on the outside and you have a concrete like gooey substance that is very water repellent (even with a pressure washer)

they are relatively thick stampings to begin with so it takes alot longer to rot out, not to mention protected from the elements being on the underside of the car.
