Oil pot on generator
What oil and how often to oil the flathead generator? Can't find any info on the web about it.

Re: Oil pot on generator
Motor oil when you change your crankcase oil, and once in between changes.

Re: Oil pot on generator
What year flathead? Isn't it on the lubrication chart for your car (there should be one in your owner's manual)?

Re: Oil pot on generator
A lot of old timers would put a drop from the engine dip stick when ever they checked the oil but I think I'd want some cleaner oil going in there. The Lincoln Mercury Overhaul Manual for the 1949 thru 51 models has it in the chart of the General Lubrication schedule. It states 10 drops of engine oil every 10,000 miles or 1 year (whichever occurs first). Oilers in that era usually have a wick in the portal to the bearing so the oil will stay there longer.
