Being a former "Cheesehead", I'm pretty pumped about the MARC meet in Oshkosh. Sort of like a homecoming.
Plan on taking the ferry over to Manitiwoc and then return via the northern route.
Hoping to make a long vacation of it and tour around Door County (what better roads for the Model A, eh?).

Any idea what the host hotel is?

All i can say after making a number of trips to Bill Sturms Upholstery Shop [ the place is wide open space up there!] " BEST TASTING CHEESE " and SMOKED SAUSAGE LINKS !! [Think they ship out the seconds on both and keep the first grade for the locales.] l.o.l. Its a long trip. 22 hours for me but worth it..

Hey Skip, any self guided tours planned for Sturgeon Bay and Door County. I kinda like to stop in and see Harley Hoffman if he's still running the Red Room. Downed a lot of $0.40 drafts (a 14 ounce waterglass) when I lived there 1980 to 1985.

I'm looking forward to Oshkosh and hope to have my early '28 Coupe ready for it. But, in the meantime, we're busy here in San Diego planning an incredible week of Model A activities plus so many things to see and do that we're having trouble fitting it all into 5 days! Stay tuned. We'll have more information out regularly.

Steve; The Milwaukee 'A' club tours up to Door County as well as our own club here on the 'thumb'. I live about two minutes from the Red Room down by the 'Cut' between the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan.

Bars, caves, galleries, farmers markets, book stores, olive bars, boating, sailing, back roads, old Civil War cemeteries, aeroplane tours, boat wrecks, islands, fishing, cabin rentals, bed and breakfasts, live out door theater, and more.

If you want I can send you the 'book'.

skip. First pic. I can see my home in this pic, and Lake Michigan to the right. Next pic is more down town looking toward the Bay of Green Bay to the left in the frame. You can see The Red Room in both pics...drop in for a card game in the a.m. Last pic is me, tiller in hand, sailing my tub. That's BayShipBuilding's 220 foot high 200 ton traveling gantry in the background. I worked there for a few years as a 'Piper' for a guy nick named 'Spike'. My partner was a 'plank owner' hired and retired from day one at BSB.

Steve--> You mean these things? One 1000 footer a Year for ten years. Before me.

Club tour. Stopping at the old Lime Kilns on the Green Bay beach.

Skip, I lived in that graving dock between 1980 and 1985 when Bay was building 1000' ore boats.

Skip, is that you in the "Comfort & Joy"?

Bareboat Certification taken in Sturgeon Bay, early 90's:

I understand that the MAFCA meet in Marquette, MI takes place June 18-22, 2012, just after the MARC Oshlosh meet.

This could be a long Model A vacation..........

we have been thinking the same thing!
one meet ends on the 15th, the other starts on the 18th,
and it's only a day's drive between them.
Judy also wants to visit Chicago, we may have to just take the whole month off.

I'm not sure what the host motel is but the Nickle A club just signed a contract with the Experimental Aircraft Association to hold the 2012 mee there. Hopefully, the old Ford Tri-motor will be operating. Good location with the Oshkosh airport nearby for those thinking of flying their own airplane in. The museum is also outstanding. Should be a very interesting gathering.

The host hotel for the 2012 MARC National Meet will be the Hilton which is adjacent to the Oshkosh airport. The theme is "WHEELS and WINGS". Mark your calander for June 11 ~ June 15, 2012. The Nickel "A" Region - MARC is looking forward to hosting a memorable event. Don/WI

Now, that's a good one! I think you should get bumper stickers made up with that.
