Default ridges on brake drum ?

1)12" drum 5x5-1/2 , highlighted are ridges (only 1/3 are attached) which prevent rim from mounting correctly ,what use are these ridges ?

2) also have 11 " 5x5-1/2, drums similar, but no nested ridges, with key way, looks like it would take 1-3/4" shoes, what year would these be suited for ?
thk/u. gus

Save the weights and Mark location . Weigh the removed weights and when you rebalance your tires try adding the same amount in the location you removed them from . Just in case you find it needing way more weight than usual .

Remember if you are running early Ford wire wheels you need adapters. They appear to fit without adapters but will probably eventually crack at the lug nut holes. See https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...=1#post1286293
