Clutch Adjustments 31 Model A Coupe
I just replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing and adjusted the fingers. When I engage the clutch one of the finger adjusters hits the inside of the bell housing. I adjust the fingers to a lesser value than the book and the sound starts the farther down I push on the clutch pedal. The clutch chatters like crazy and does not engage until the pedal is at least half way up. Could this be due to the linkage?

One possibility is uneven finger adjustment.

What did you set the fingers at ? [ 5/8" or 11/16" will work] How close a tolerance did you set them to ? [.002"]
What did you set free-play at ? Clutch chatter can be finger adjustment or bell housing alignment [.006"]. A finger should not make contact with the bell housing. |

No way for a stock clutch to have that happen that I could see. Even with the nuts turned all the way out there should still be room to not hit. Did you re stake the nuts after adjustment?
