cup shaped interior washers and screw purpose?
Hi,
I have a bag of the so called modern original size screws and parts for a 68B Cabriolet. Of course nothing is labeled. So this is a cup shaped special washer, there are 10 of them. This chrome screw looks like it fits, and I was thinking rear side window vertical chrome riser that has 5 holes each side? But maybe these cupped washers were for the horizontal woodgrain door molding? I never saw what my car had to know. Thanks for advice of what to use to screw on the chrome vertical hinged window seal garnish with the half inch upholstery tube in it. It is not in the new guidelines that I can see, but a lot of other details are there.

My 1930 Town Sedan has those in all the wood grained window trims or garnish’s. Makes for a very nice appearance when installed.

I agree they look good vs standard oval head screw by itself.
So you also have them with machine screws too on the steel part of the window door trim, not just the wood screws? I can see how they seem to fit and maybe the Ford concept was it would not scratch the woodgrain off as much compared to just a screw twisting the paint, vs a special washer flush.

Yes.....on my Town Sedan they are on all the screws attaching those trims, but I bought my car nicely restored. But the gentleman who did restore was pretty meticulous in his research and following the standards, so I am sure they are correct.

Six of these screws and washers go into the cowl kick panels.

They stop the screw from chipping the paint as it is being tightened.

I don't think so. The back of the washer in the OP is convex to fit the countersink in the molding, etc so the screw is flush with the surface. The kick panel washers I've seen have a rim that holds the screw proud of the surface. |
