A good cause
I am about to undertake a 4000 km journey in my 1928 Ford Model A. travelling form my home town of Mackay to Ipswich, Queensland to attend the 22nd National Model A ford Meet from Mar 26 to Mar 31 and will be returning home Via Winton and Longreach for a total distance of some 4000 km.
As we all know, our cars attract a lot of attention when we use them. I thought it would be a great idea to use this opertunity to raise some funds for charity. To this end I have nominated to take part in the Worlds Greatest Shave to raise much needed funds to the Leukaemia Foundation. As I'm sure we have all been effected in some way by Cancer. I will be doing the big shave while I am at Ipswich for the Model A Meet. I will be shaving both my head of hair and my Beard. (Total removal) If anyone would like to support me by making a donation to a very worthy cause you may do so on line by visiting my personal web page on the Laukaemia Foundation web site. The link is as follows: http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/fordmodela I thank you in advance for any support or encouragement Please visit and take a look. I will post Before and After Pictures when I return Home I trust I am not violating any Forum rules by my use of this site. If so please accept my sincere apology. Runnerbun (Terry)

Re: A good cause
A big thank you to those who donated to the Laukaemia Foundation. Fund raising has gone beyond my expectation. I'm looking forward to the big shave which will happen at the Australian National Model A Meet being held at Ipswich, Queensland.
All ready to hit the road first thing in the morning.

Hey Terry. Good luck to you. Sounds like you are Shaving for a great cause. I have donated my hair 2 times for locks of love, but i would have a hard time giving up my beard after 44 years. Go for it and post pics if you can. Again, good luck and and have a safe trip. Mark.

Re: A good cause
Hello all, back home after a wonderful trip of 4200 km (2600 miles) to attend the Model A Ford National meet in Queensland, Australia. My Model A performed perfectly with the only attention required was two litres of oil and a couple of cups of water to cover the total distance.
I am very pleased to advise that the fund raising for Laukaemia research exceeded all my expectations. Total raised was a stagering $3065 with about $2200 of the total coming from Ford Model A owners at the Model A National Meet. What a great result. I was humbled by the support shown. My hair will grow back in a couple of months but your donations will continue working into the future. To all who supported me, I thank you on a personal level and on behalf of the Leukaemia Foundation. God bless you all. Please check out my page on the Leukaemia Web Site. http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/fordmodela
