Consensus on best Throwout bearing
Getting ready to re-install my 8BA. Whose & where to buy best Throwout bearing? On engine diss-assembly I noticed existing Throwout Bearing was starting to throw a bit of green grease onto clutch & pressure plate. On original build 2000 miles ago I purchased from Mac’s 6 yrs ago.

Re: Consensus on best Throwout bearing
That bearing should be good for another 78,000 miles.

Re: Consensus on best Throwout bearing
I would not recommend Aetna bearings. The one I purchased here just recently spun far to easily, I dont think it had any grease in it, it looked rather cheap . I even sent an email to them - no reply. I'd go for at least a National bearing [should still be USA made]. Mike or Mac should knows what good.

Re: Consensus on best Throwout bearing
SKF throwout bearing: N1087
Bearing Identification Number: 2065 (works for cross-referencing with any mfr) Never had a problem with SKF

Re: Consensus on best Throwout bearing
There was a resent thread that covered this, with part numbers if I remember correctly.

Re: Consensus on best Throwout bearing
I believe 3rd gen is selling the Aetna bearing. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Consensus on best Throwout bearing
We sell the Aetna bearing (timken) as most prefer that brand, but the bearibn we sell I prefer (plus it’s cheaper and USA) is one made by bearing technologies out of Ohio.
