Default Spark/Gas Notched Plate

I have the steering column and (7 tooth) housing out on my work bench and while I’m installing a new upper bushing, bearing, spark/gas rods, horn/lights switch rod, I encountered a major problem. I can’t find the notched guide part, that the spark/gas rods ride on. We, my wife and I finished cleanIng the part, we set the unit down in the work area - waiting for it’s turn to be installed. When, I proceeded to reinstall it and fasten it to the upper bearing housing (steering tube). I CAN’T or COULD NOT FIND THIS NOTCHED PLATE part any where. It disappeared. We have searched the garage, house and work area - NG - maybe trashed by accident......this part can not be purchased. None of the parts dealers have it for sale. It’s probably the only Model A part, that can not be bought.

Does anyone have this part from old Model A parts or know of a possible salvage yard, that I can purchase or obtain this item ? It fastens on with two small flat head screws (6-32 x 1/4” ). I may have to buy a new steering assembly......I know, - what a dummy !

Contact Berts Model A parts. They have a lot of original parts available.

Is there a separate part for the 7 tooth steering housing? I thought the spark rod quadrants were separate for model T's but not A's. Steve at Berts' and Don at Snyders says there hasn't been demand for reproduction quadrants that can somehow be attached
to/ or replace the worn originals. There is a column on ebay that may fit your car for $45 plus shipping from Canada.

Thanks 160B. - I’ll call Berts. This has me real concerned. As per the other parts dealers - no one even supplies the whole steering column. I can’t imagine - I can’t find the part here in my garage and the fact that, no one sells a replacement. It’s an item that wares out. It don’t seem like I am alone with this situation.

There should be a bunch of these laying around as a lot of people switched from 7 to 2 tooth columns. I removed mine and put it on a Gimmer 2 tooth column. The 7 tooth doesn't have the rim around it that a 2 tooth does. Do you remember what it looks like, could be stuck on some other part laying around your shop?

Dave just call Berts they will have one. That's the first thing I had to replace on my Phaeton when I first got it. My original had one half broke off.

Good you found what you needed. Bert's is one of the few vendors that sell used parts, that is why they had your part.

I bought some cowl light arms from Bert's a while back. The cowl light arms you get from the Vendors (Vintique Brand) don't even begin to work correctly.
