When I used the Snyder’s puller, it just bent the puller. That’s when I took it to the machine shop and they did the drill & tap routine and they were able to get it off using a “real “ wheel puller.

Tried Bill W's method but couldn't come up w/any way to hold the column solid enough so that I could pull and push at the same time. Put it in the vise but the whole welding table started to move.

Gonna try the drill and tap option first chance I get to work on it, hopefully this afternoon.

I tried the "puller w/rope" trick (post #1), just didn't take pictures.

I think this steering wheel is used to "cut corners"

Success, got it off using drill and tap, a big puller and a little heat.
