Mallory Ignition
I recently purchased my second Model A (1928 Tudor) that has a Mallory ignition installed. It has a dual point system and seems to run quite well. The problem for me is I have no information on how to set timing or point gaps. Can someone point me in a direction that will lead to an understanding of the ignition system. I plan to pull the head this weekend and want to make sure I can properly set the ignition during reassembly.
Thanks for you help. Bob |

If you are going to put the same head back on, mark the distributor location to the head, when mated again you should be so close a timing light would not able to show any difference.

Re: Mallory Ignition
A new Mallory single point distributor is probably the best change you could make, for BETTER/MORE TROUBLE FREE driving. Makes it like a whole "new" car!
If you're confused with your old dual point distributor, just throw out one set of points & it'll run FINE! Just set your timing in the normal way. Bill W.

Re: Mallory Ignition
Thanks for all of the input. I am not putting the same head back on but I think I have enough info to work through the process. I will report back when I install the new head.
