Default The Ugly Green Thing ('35 Panel Delivery)

I have built Model T's for 50 years but I picked up this Panel Delivery many years ago. A Street Rodder friend gave me a running flat head last year so I started working on it. I posted some frame straightening and some oversize clevis pins on the "Lunch Hour" discussion. I thought I would start this thread for progress as I go for any who might be interested.

Love it, and look forward to seeing progress. (Heck, even the bald spot on that front tire made me smile.)

Thanks. I don't sandblast any more but wet sand with 80 grit. These backing plates are ready to paint. I also tried to match the green paint on the shoes. No good reason but just for fun.

15 max, Good luck with your restoration. I started with a basket case about 25 years ago and finally got it done a few years ago. Its a 35 panel delivery like yours. Its worth the effort. They are beautiful when done. Contact me anytime at [email protected] if you have questions, etc.

That is some great metalwork Don. Thanks to all for the encouragement. It has been rewarding to look through the parts I have picked up for 40 years realize I have most of what I need. I'll keep you posted on progress.

Nice project and I can see that you have great attention to detail - that will pretty much drive a great result (along with buckets of time and bags of money!). Good luck and I look forward to following your progress.

Was wondering why you don't sandblast anymore?

Two reasons I don't sandblast are my aging lungs and my neighbors. The clouds of sand drift into the yard next door. A good respirator and a well placed tarp would probably allow me to sandblast but I have found that wet sanding is very relaxing. I can let my mind wonder while sanding. I use a piece of top material to save wear on my fingers. I spin round things like brake drums and wheels on a fixture. I can just hold the sandpaper against the part and it goes quickly. If I count the clean-up time and the time it takes the compressor to catch up with the blaster it really doesn't take that much longer. Also my sandblaster clogged up often.
I'm sure folks with better equipment do fine with it but wet sanding works well for me.
Thanks for asking

Don,

Great work and a great looking panel truck. 15Max, great start and keep up the good work. We need more panel trucks on the road.
