Re: 1936 convertible vs 1935 fordoor
The forward 80% of the floor is same for all '35-'36 passenger cars with some minor differences in terms of wood underfloor reinforcements and the number of fasteners retaining the battery cover. The rear 20% of the floor in cabriolets, roadsters, and coupes is unique to those body types.

Greetings Everyone! 36roadster, you have received a wonderful answer from a contributor that has done your type of job before and seen many many cars that you ask about.

When I was restoring my 35 phaeton, I bought a 35 4 door sedan and took the floor out of the sedan to replace the phaeton one, but I still had to cut out and repair some rusty areas. I also had remains of very rotten 36 roadster body and wanted to use bits of the rear floor for patches, but no such luck. Basically the roadster floor from the back seat riser to the rear is completely different in design and will NOT interchange. I seem to recall the inner wheel wells were different too. Viv. |

Not the best pictures to compare; but they may give you an idea on how different the back sections differ, coupe rear section on the left, sedan floor on the right.
