Default Objects of desire.....

I have more than one "classic car" and devote my time equally between them. So I'm no real expert on any of them.

A recent post on The Barn showed a few photos of my English Model B......it seems that the steering wheel, front sidelights and the wheel trims have made many hearts flutter? What's so special about them? I really would like to know?

Wheel...entirely different from USA Ford, good looking, rare.
Fender lights...neat original Ford part that is almost unheard of here.
Trim rings...moderately rare, look good.

English Ford have a bunch of neat parts...the glove boxes on the closed cars, a nice luggage rack that does not require ugly sidemounts, and so on.
I'll be using some of this stuff on my American '32 projects, along with Mexican and Scandinavian '32 speedometers because I'm used to the conversion and like to watch passengers' expressions when the numbers go into triple digits...

Let's see:
Aluminum wheel (chk)
Fender mount rather than cowl mount lights (chk)
18" trim rings (chk)

You need to take off that imported stuff and sell it to me!
Very cool stuff, IMO!

Just extrapolating from the condition of the car...I'm guessing the other end is all there too...

(actually, I just scrolled it up to 60 diameters of magnification, ran it through a 4th generation NASA photo enhancement program, and studied it all in the reflection in the window of the modern car across from the cabriolet...)

Bruce - you are spot on. Having been lucky enough to see the car in the metal I can vouch for it being just about perfect. Am hoping David will post some of the other features, the hand made spare wheel cover for example being a true labour of love that really sets it off.

Confession.....the nearside rear light is repro and to create the frosted effect to illuminate the HAND SIGNALS ONLY sign I had the inside of the glass bead blasted.

Looks good on the car though.......sorry Bruce and Keith but needs must

I'd love to own a reproduction of your HAND SIGNALS ONLY sign any chance that you may have it reproduced?

I notice your bumper has a gentle curve throughout as where almost every bumper I see here in the U.S. is straight in the middle. I have seen the original Ford blueprint's & it shows this same curve, whats up 32 expert's ??? Beautiful car by the way !

Steve and Rusty....

OK, here's the Buick and well spotted !!!!! As far as the sign is concerned, well that's just hard slog with a hacksaw, fretsaw and files.

Reproduction bumpers are usually straight, although some of the early repros have something of a curve.

A couple of quibbles are that the trim rings are not a Ford-released accessory, and side mounts on '32s aren't ugly on a '32, unlike on '33s-34s (and some on '35s and '36s in Europe), while European luggage racks are pretty ugly compared to their North American counterparts IMO.

I agree completely with Keith's comment about the "reproduction" locking hubcap as it is a labor of love.

David...Thank you ! I believe that Keith was referring to the spare wheel cover as a labour of love; however be assured that the same applies to the locking hubcap !

I know little about the bumpers other than that they have been on the car since my acquisition back in 1984. I assume they are original.

I have gleaned more knowledge about this dear old car in the last four days than I have over three decades thanks to Barners

David
Is the "ole" center knuckle size of the bumper-ends still the dead giveaway as to repro or original bumpers???

By the way, One of the bumpers on our 32 has a Ford script oval stamped in the back side of the bumper just about dead center, anyone see that??

Rockfla.....whilst I am appreciative that "American English" is derived from our English language here in the UK, I sometimes have difficulty with translation. Can you refine "ole centre knuckle size" ?
