Reason I ask is there's not much info to be found. Gasket kits are a force-fit. Faceplate won't go in at all.

My Sport Coupe has one of these lenses. I had no issues with assembly using cork gaskets.

Pluck
Doubt it's repro. Amber glass, elliptical relief, magnifies some. MAFCA site has fuzzy drawing of 3 different faceplates, mid-28 thru 29 looks like elliptical opening.

https://www.mafca.com/downloads/Semi...20Controls.pdf

Gas Gauge Openings

Oct 27 - May 28 - Vertical oval opening, flat lens
Apr 28 - Sep 29 - Horizontal oval opening, magnifying/flat lens
May 29 Oct 29 - Round opening, raised flat lens
Nov 29 - End - Round opening, flat lens

Gas Gauge History

Early gauge until May 28 Vertical oval opening with flat lens • Nickel plated steel casting April 28 redesigned Aluminum die casting • Nickel plated on exposed face - not used after June 28 magnifying glass lens with horizontal oval opening May 29 round gauge opening introduced Initially round glass had flat raised center Changed by Nov 29 to flat glass

Your own gas gauge.pdf shows it but I lost the url.

Problem may be image size (>2MB) but I don't know how to shrink it.

Thanks, Pluck. Fig. 14 is it. My faceplate is missing the paint, and turned around, apparently. Glass is amber.

The alignment tab on the new faceplate is twice as wide as the original. The drilling is too far inward for the second gasket to fit between it and the lens. Just FYI.

Copy the picture to your Desktop.
Open the picture so it displays on your screen.
On top toolbar click on Edit.
Depending on what program is being used to open the picture, you may see Resize - click on it.
If you do not see resize click on edit again and resize should be there.

Definitely amber glass, scrubbed vigorously. Tank was empty, suspended float for pic.

Send it to some one and have them post it.

Not me...I have one hell of a time doing it myself!

I have never seen an "amber" lense but that does not mean Ford did not make them.
