30 model a CCPU Engine Pictures
Leak possibly from a warped head. No break in the head gasket. What is the best way to deal with the rust?

Not bad. You can replace the spring on the valve or just take it out, clean it off and replace it. As long as it is not grinding away on the valve stem you should be good to go. It will get coated in oil and stop the reaction. Glad it was just a warped head.

Re: 30 model a CCPU Engine Pictures
if this is the motor that had no compression in #3, you have work to do.
what caused the loss of compression? the adjustable lifters look suspicious, the adjusters are cranked all the way down? check for #3 valves to be seating with clearance. take a look down the distributor hole, it looks like the water was going down there in the picture, but cannot tell for sure. water jackets do crack on the valve chamber side too. get a decent straight edge and check the head and block, something looks like the gasket wasn't sealing #3 in center but, if so I would expect to see water in the bore and rust. I agree with 1931 flamingo. I don't really see any sign of water in #2 cylinder
or exhaust port, there may be a crack in the roof of the valve chamber. Also as mentioned what was wrong with #3 that had no compression. Bob |

I thought that either 2 or 3 could have leaked down through the water path so they would have had zero compression. By the way, the oil pressure was about 9 psi. I believe it has the center main bearing pressurized. I haven't pulled the pan yet. Last edited by Baypac; 07-06-2018 at 07:27 PM. Reason: forgot info |
