Dillinger (1945)

Terrible movie, the only factual part of the movie is the name of the character.

1939 Ford Tudor
1935 Ford Fordor Police Car
1936 Ford Fordor Police Car
1939 Lincoln Zephyr Coupe
1935 (?) Ford V-8 Truck

Dr. Welby and Carole Lombard star in this Hitchcock comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith (1941). One Ford appears briefly in the background. Slim pickins for Fords (or old cars in general) in this one.

1936 Ford (model unknown)

There are two pretty good chase scenes in this 75-minute movie. The first chase scene involves two very early model army jeeps. Some really wild driving with these two jeeps and four passengers each. Wow. The second chase scene comes at the end and involves a chase between a car and motorcycle/sidecar combo. The second chase was apparently filmed on location in Southern California--tons and tons of old cars in this one.

There are ten V-8 Fords at least and probably more. More than once I could see a scant hint of the 35-36 hard spare cover and the famous dip in the rear bumper, but these cars could not be positively identified and appeared too brief or were too blurry.

One 1936 Cabriolet had a weird after-market trim on the hood sides that consisted of three thick chrome bands, the first one beginning at the cowl at the top of the side panel and wrapped all the way around the to front of the grill, meeting at the center. Three of these were evenly spaced down the hood sides following the pattern outlined above. I could find no photos of this car on line; I will save the movie and attempt to photograph the car with a view to posting it on this thread in the future. Lots of Fords in this one and great views of So Cal in 1941. Sorry no photos with this one.

1936 Ford Standard Tudor
1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe
1935 Ford 5W Coupe
1933-1934 (?) Ford 5W Coupe

I need to add two more Fords to this list:

1936 Ford Roadster
1935 Ford 5W Coupe

You guys will love this.

The get away car for the bank heist in the movie "Odds Against Tomorrow" (1959) is a 50 51 Chevy wagon. What??? They explain that it has been suped up. Later you get a quick look under the hood at a late Ford Flathead with 2 2s and a lot of chrome! A Ford in a Chevy? go figure.

My Sister Eileen (1942)

1938 Ford Fordor

I was only able to glimpse the front end briefly but the hood latch, grill and headlights gave it away. Look away for an instant and you'll miss it.

Don't know if anyone has already mentioned it here, but the general dearth of Fords in the classic films of the '30's and '40's can be directly attributed to Old Henry's anti-Semitic articles in The Dearborn Independent in the early '20's. The film studios were for the most part owned by eastern-European Jews, who did not take to kindly to this kind of nonsense. There was a boycott of Ford products during that era, which extended to the movie studios. So, you get Humphrey Bogart driving a '37 Plymouth in High Sierra, and the same dog in The Big Sleep, when we all know what he would really be driving!
