Door panel help
I am really struggling with the door panel on my Victoria, and could use some help.
I need to work on the window regulator, and probably put in new glass, but I am unable to remove the interior door panel. I have all of the screws and clips removed, but the problem is that I cannot remove the handle for the door latch. I know there is a spring in there, but where is it? I have an auto trim tool set, but I can't figure out where the spring is on the handle. The window handle is loose, but how do I remove that? Thanks! |

Re: Door panel help
Push the door panel in and you should see a set screw on the handle.

Re: Door panel help
1. The door latch handle and the window regulator handle have the same design.
2. From the inside of the car, you should see the handle and an escutcheon trim piece. 3. Get a helper and with an 1/16" drift pin in hand. 3. Push the escutcheon hard into the upholstery panel until the pin attaching the door handle becomes visible. 4. Have a helper push the pin out, and the remove the handle, the escutcheon, and a conical spring. These pictures should give you some insight about how the handles are attached. The escutcheon is left out, and instead of the pin there is a cotter.

Re: Door panel help
One our members turned me on to a neat little shop made tool. I made one and it works great. 3/4 inch thick piece of wood and cut out enough so you have two legs that straddle the escutcheon and push in. Enables one guy working alone to do the deed.

Really had to squish the escutcheon to find it. Now that I have it off, the inside sheet metal blocks access to everything and it doesn’t look like it’s removable. Is the door two separate pieces or is it one unit? How do you get to anything inside it it’s not? |

Re: Door panel help
Everything may have to come out the top of the door opening. remove the garnish moulding. The rub strip, then the glass and then the regulator.
