Default Neat Old Photo of the Singing Cowboy, his Dog Jerry and his Model A Sport Coupe

This photo shows Jules Verne Allen posed at this Firestone Service Station in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his faithful terrier, Jerry, sometime in the early 1930′s.

On The Old Motor we have four more fascinating photos of this Firestone Tire Store complete with auto parts store, service areas and a recapping department that you are sure to enjoy.

I couldn't agree more!

Sure wish I could have lived during the Model T and A days and steam trains! The old buildings had style and character, unlike todays "here today....gone tomorrow" plain boxes.

Hey Bill, I think that could be part of Buster T's family tree. He's a Model A man ( dog / friend )

There was one major drawback to the 'good old days' and that was the life expectancy, which wasn't much to cheer about and probably means many of us here on this forum today, wouldn't be :

1928 55.6
1929 55.8
1930 58.1
1931 59.4

Females on average lived 3 years longer than the men’s average life expectancy above.

Look at that, 4 years of Model A's and life expectancy went up each year. Sure looks like proof positive that owning a Model A increases life expectancy.

Way to go Tom! I like your outlook on life. Does that mean if we own two model A's we can double that life expectancy?

I'm not sure, but I need to trade in my 29 for a 1930, because that year gave the biggest boost.

Yes but I am sure your ancestor was the exception to the rule so the averages are likely far more accurate !

and being rich didn't necessarily guarantee long life, Edsel was about 50, wasn't he? The only smoker in the plant and a heavy one at that.

Averages are just that, averages...which means for every person that lived to 80, there were many that didn't make it even to their 50's, which is how you get averages after all
