Cool photo and story. Now, if they could just get the cars to park in the right direction.

There you go tomcarman...

The publican reserved all of the parking outside of the hotel for the photo shoot.

One of the photos is being selected by the publican to up on the hotel wall.

Wow! That is fantastic! Nice car too. Since I can't readily drop in for a beer at The Verandah please give the publican my highest regards and let him know he's put a smile on at least one persons face 1/2 way around the world. I'm curious which of the photos will be selected to hang on the wall. I'm partial to the B&W closely resembling the angle and close in similar to the original photo. I assume the two photos are going to be displayed together, if not they ought to be in my opinion. Great bit of history and many thanks to all involved.

tomcarman, you have the same taste as the publican as the original and the B&W closely resembling the angle and close in similar to the original photo have been chosen.
I shall salute you with a cold one on the Verandah Bar as we are having 30+ DegC days here.

Sir, among the many pleasures I've had on this Christmas day this only adds to the joy of the season. Here in the Pacific Northwest we have enjoyed a white Christmas for the 1st time in many years. I hope you enjoy these pictures taken moments ago in near 0 degree C and only expected to get colder this week. 30 degree C is in my dreams. This has been a most enjoyable thread and I hope you can post a pic after the photos are on the wall. Please shake the publicans hand for me with high esteem.
Tom

I'm sure there have been many other changes through the decades. I'd like to have a beer in the Verandah Bar. What would be even more fantastic is if a modern photo could be taken with the same car in the photo. I wonder if anyone in NZ has a 1930 Pontiac?
Pretty sure I've seen a 1930 Pontiac at a vintage car rally here Tomcar. I always thought it to have an attractive grille.
