Default Frank Casey

Quite often Frank Casey is mentioned on Fordbarn for his skill and just being a nice guy. I dropped a block off today (Ch$#@y) and had a fun visit. He stitched a flathead for me a few years ago. What a machinist. Note the flathead in the picture and an 8 cylinder Dusenburg. Busy fellow.

Not many of these old time specialists left. It seems a lost art with the young guys.

Here is a pic of the Dusenburg block. Original stitching failing. Not his work. He will cut out the bad area, machine a filler piece and stich it all in. Amazing. Maybe the Aussie will enlarge this to better show the bad area

Frank must be getting up there in years. When he goes all that knowledge goes with it. Not only the fixing of cracks but the experience of what blocks are prone to crack where and how difficult they are to fix. He told me he repaired a 103 inch crack in a cast iron pipe for the providence water department once.

Frank did my 59L block, great work. He recently spent months in RI pinning cracks in 70" cast iron pumps that pump water out of the hurricane barriers in Providence RI in a flood. There is no one like him. I believe he said he learned it form his dad.
