Default '56 victoria ignition key cylinder removal

Can the ignition key cylinder be taken out without a key on a '56 victoria? Or how can I replace the cylinder with a new one if I don't have the original key for my switch? Thanks, Joe

If the switch is worn enough that you can move it to the ass position with a screw driver, then you can use a paper clip in the little hole and remove it. Not sure how if it needs the key.

Or take the whole switch to a locksmith and have it re-keyed.

Thought about doing that, but just asking if anyone had any ideas prior to going that route. Thanks, Joe.

Ponymares method works with later 60s and on ignition switches, the 56 is different. If you can't get the key out, it is not a hard job for a locksmith.
