Gas tank and fuel line question
WE just pulled a tank out from the under the seat of a T Hukster-1926. The tank is 8"x8"x16". Old fuel sitting in it a long time. When the tank was drained, very rusty on the bottom, probably from water in the ethanol gas.
What can we use to try and get the tank clean-or cleaner?? Is there a fuel filter we could use when reinstalled?? Where can we buy a reliable carburetor NH type for the vehicle? There isn't one with the engine. Thanks!! Bob

Re: Gas tank and fuel line question
A radiator shop should be able to clean your tank. New replacements are available at reasonable prices. New or rebuilt carbs are available from the dealers.

Re: Gas tank and fuel line question
It sounds like a tiny gas tank from an old lawn mower. You can find all sorts of tanks like that on eBay for very little money. Might be a better idea to fit an original Model T gas tank.
Carburetors are also very cheap on eBay. There is very little inside an NH carburetor, very easy to rebuild by the average tinkerer. All parts are available except the main body. Quote:

Re: Gas tank and fuel line question
Bob, I have several extra NH rebuildable cores that I got on a recent pick and one of them would be put to better use to get you going on your project.
Send me an e-mail with your address and I will ship one out to you. Scott |

Re: Gas tank and fuel line question
Do you have those tank dimensions right? Agree it sounds like a lawn mower tank and there's plenty around in both metal and plastic. Probably doesn't pay to invest in cleaning as something that small isn't orig. anyway so replacing isn't a problem.

Re: Gas tank and fuel line question
Hmmm. My math calculates that a tank 8" X 8" X 22" is 1408 cubic inches. With no air in the tank at all that would be around 6 1/10 gallons. It needs a sediment bulb type filter. Any sort of inline filter would hurt performance. Here's an example on eBay:

Re: Gas tank and fuel line question
I'm just trying to report what we took out of this vehicle. It was used as a Taxi in Mexico City some years ago. We are trying to get it running again for the owner. I may have to buy a new tank. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to use??
