I agree with Tom. The "black fuel line" may be kinked and preventing proper fuel flow. Get the steel line which has the correct bends.

Is this a 6” X maybe 3/4” filter, Napa? If so, it won’t work. If you take it apart you can see the way it’s made to let the gas flow. I don’t exactly remember all the details, I did try enlarging the holes, but it just wouldn’t allow the gas thru. For me it would run out at high speed in second gear climbing a steep hill. I gave up and got rid of it. Re flushed my tank and installed a dirty leg, with an inverted trap. Looks ugly, but works great.
