Default reverse "weak"

hello- just got 24 touring running today but when reverse is selected by depressing rev pedal hard to floor with lever in mid position, car barely moves- other gears move well and car has a good neutral. this is 1st time i've ever driven a model t.
any ideas how to fix?

thank you

try tightening the reverse band. You need to open the tranny door to do this. DO NOT DROP ANYTHING INTO THE TRANNY! Remove the key from the ignition switch first. The key can magically drop right down into the transmission.

Very sound advice! It helps to pack rags around the bands to prevent anything from falling in. BUT count the rags & be sure they are all removed when done.
