Re: Horn Rod replacement
The way the system works is the horn is "Hot" all the time - and you ground the system downstream of the horn to blow it. You should read 6V (measure to a ground point) both on the wire leading to the horn and the wire leading from the horn.
If you undo the wiring switch bulb you'll find a plate with "contacts." The center contact should be "hot" similar to the wires. You can try grounding this contact to blow the horn to be sure your problem is elsewhere. Assuming the problem is elsewhere - now check for continuity between the spring loaded center contact of your switch (upper half of wiring bulb) and the ground you used earlier. With the horn button not pushed there should be not continuity. Press the horn button and you should get zero ohms/continuity. This proves out your switch. I will wager you'll find the problem in this second half test. If indeed it is the horn rod then perhaps it is defective, or otherwise shorted thus bypassing the switch. Joe K

Re: Horn Rod replacement
Some horn cover screws are too long, or threaded in to far, and hit the brush holder, which can ground out the horn.
