Default Fitting a Baron Bonney seat kit.

How big a job is it to fit a Baron Bonney front seat kit in a 31 phaeton? How many hours is the target time? -including removing the split upholstery i have at present and utilising the existing springs.

Welllll these things are somewhat designed for the average restorer. I'm an experienced auto trimmer and like many find their instructions difficult. There are lots of tricks and tips involved. If you have no prior experience plan on a long weekend. Just my thoughts. Also there are a number of video's on the net so do some research. You got this Buddy.

As in post 2, check the net. Classtique in the midwest US has kits and some videos on utube. Try to avoid foam substitutes for cotton batting, etc. If it's a phaeton, is your material leather or vinyl? That likes to be done in a warm environment so the material can stretch a little. We've done a couple of Le Baron Bonney sharkgrain vinyl kits for roadster, sport coupe and rumble seats and the difficulty was with the side seat frame covers which were not at the time made well and exhibited wrinkles.

As Bob stated, you need experience to do the job correctly, ...and generally speaking Experience is something you gain after you need it!

Also, much of that is going to depend on whether you are going to install the material correctly, -or just install it. Items like crimping the seat cover vs hog-ringing it, folding edges correctly, compressing the springs to the correct height, tufting, etc. all that take time. If you are gonna do it right, you better take that "end" off of 'week'.

ditto here. Just finishing a 28 Phaeton interior. Took us many days. Didn't count how many. We crimped the seat bottoms and used a home made seat compressor with channel lock pliers. I would do that rather hog ringing it together. Well worth the extra time.
