Nice car... I like the patina. It reminded me of Amos McCoy's Model A from a zillion years ago on TV. I wonder what ever happened with that car?

RcT
Thank you, I like the patina myself. Amazingly this car sat outside for nearly about 47 years and survived. Thankfully it is usually very dry here much of the time. The attached photo was taken in the mid '80's long before I acquired it. Really runs good in this weather and probably handles better than most of the other cars on the road, Although I only drove about 3 blocks and back. Darryl Fairbanks |

TinCup,
No Deluxe Phaetons in Alaska as far as I know either, sorry to disappoint but this is a Standard Phaeton. The doors fit so good its hard to tell that I am missing the rear door handle. I had one off my other brand Touring, which fit and then I broke it, pot metal. Darryl |

It will be a while before we get snow down here in the "Bananna Belt" as the guys up north like to describe it.

Re: Yesterday aftenoon in Fairbanks - Phaeton in the Snow
Thanks for the pictures, makes me realize it's time to get the Snowmobiles out and get 'em ready for riding.....!!!! Can't wait. Of course I will also drain the cooling system and get the pre-mix out as I plan to drive the coupe this winter when the roads are clear of salt.....

Re: Yesterday aftenoon in Fairbanks - Phaeton in the Snow
Gravelroad, Gumpy
I never was given the opportunity to see all the cars that were stored at the location where my Phaeton was. The photo of my car in the woods was given to me by a friend, once we confirmed that it really was my the one that I got. He took photos of many of the Model A's and has since located most of the owners and also provided them with pics, all taken in the '80s. It is my understanding that there were about a half dozen Model A's, all 1930, the owners favorite year. I think that there is a Victoria in the background of the photo of my Phaeton. I could check, but I do not know what became this car. I do know the Sister car to mine is still here and belongs to the man I got mine from. I also know the whereabouts of an AA also. There were many cars, I know a fellow who got a 1930 Lasalle ($$$) The attached photos are: My first sighting of the Phaeton, After removal from Quansie Hut at about 20 below F, First time in warm garage in at least 50 years and Clean-up day - Blow off with air - Apply Penetrol (That really ugly hood had to go, the brushed on latex paint was falling off) Darryl in Fairbanks |

Re: Yesterday aftenoon in Fairbanks - Phaeton in the Snow
Ah, Fairbanks in October! Staying dark a little longer now too isn't it? I was up there for a couple of weeks in 1980...July thankfully. (Barrow was still cold though)
On a related note, we could view the northern lights in Ohio last night according to the news. Too bad my head was in the A engine compartment messing with the carb! Great car, and pictures. Thanks. |

Re: Yesterday aftenoon in Fairbanks - Phaeton in the Snow
Weather today forecast 25 - 35, currently 45 above. Can't get a good weather forecast anymore. 2" of snow tonight, should be fun driving in the morning. Fairbanks area is one of the best places in the world to view the Northern Lights - Aurora. Sun came up about 30 minutes ago, which means its still twilight. 9 hours of daylight and loosing 7 minutes a day until late December.
Record cold for today -27 F Record High + 52, so we might set a new record today, the high I hope. Its almost like an Indian Summer around here, gives me a few more chances to take the Phaeton out around the neighborhood. |

Record Cold -40 in Fairbanks Alaska
This weather system may be coming to a town near you
"This morning, Fairbanks airport dropped to 40 below zero, breaking the old record of 39 below. That’s after setting a record low of 35 below Tuesday morning, breaking the old record of 33 below from 1956. Wednesday’s low of -39 just missed 1969’s record of -41." Quote from the Washington Post 40 below is the same no matter if it in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
