John, If it is the type I am thinking of, they are called "semaphores" or "trafficators" and are solenoid operated rather than motorised.
If they are as described, the two term I used above might help in your search.
The chances are they were used across a broad spectrum of models.
I just had a quick look on UK ebay and found a few listings. I searched using semaphore trafficator.
Mart.

As Mart has astutely pointed out, the "trafficators" you are asking about operate off of a electro-magnet. SO
DO you have the bodies and the arm and are just missing the electro-magnet OR are you missing the complete set UP???
There "should" be an associated switch for them as well, are you missing that too?

Here is a few shots of the inside of the trafficators (NOT necessarily the exact ones for your car) as you can see the magnet that operates the arm. ALSO a couple of switches that should be similar to what you "should" have!!!!

Often the switch for these trafficators was mounted within the horn button assembly on the steering wheel and were fitted to most English cars of the 1940s & 1950s. They cancelled to the off position when the steering wheel was pointed straight ahead. There were several sizes and types of trafficators and most were LUCAS made. They all had part numbers so exactly which one are you after. As others have stated these were solenoid operated and not by an electric motor. The orange plastic arm also lit up (not flashing) whilst in operation. 6 & 12 volt were available. They were quite troublesome and I repaired hundreds of them when I was a young fella. Regards, Kevin.

Here is MORE of the "type" of trafficator you are looking for, NOT sure of the dimensions you "need" BUT there are several pairs (mostly Lucas) which, "most likely", would have been on your car on Epay. YOU may have to either "alter" a pair that you get OR the car to fit ones that you find. I have been following these now for over 18 years and the last two to three years the prices have quadrupled for them and the switches. NOTE on all four pictures the "Chrome" ends that show on the outside. Pictures 2, 3 & 4 would be a "likely" candidate for you AS you could remove the "L" shaped mounting bracket OFF the back and use the remaining machine screw holes to mount to the inside of the body somehow!!!!

Check with Art Knapp in Covina CA. He completed a total restoration of one of the three Jensens several years ago. This car is undoubtedly the best of the breed at this time. His phone number is 626 319 3853 Good luck

You are welcome to email me IF you need or [email protected]. I have a brand new in the box set of Trico trafficators and switch that I bought a few years back that I know, style wise, are what you are seeking, not sure "size" wise if that would be the case BUT also know they were used in England, Holland, etc etc as the trafficators came from Holland and the switch from England. They are for one of our Euro Fords BUT I can send along pictures and measurements IF that will help you!!!! I found another NOS set of the same trafficators a year or so after mine for a fellow and his Dagingham Custom 35 Ford that is under restoration now, to my knowledge they fit his car perfectly!!!!
