I want to replace the engine driven fan on my 41 with a shroud and electric fan. I can buy an 18" fan and make a shroud but with all the complete units out there for modern cars does anyone have a suggestion on what will fit

If you have the ability to fabricate a shroud (as you claim), then why not make one to use the existing engine driven fan?
And perhaps adapt a more efficient fan blade (multi-blade/flex)

Plus two with 34PKUP .The electric fans have there own shroud built in ,a fabricated shroud is best used on the original fan I think Walker Radiator has a plastic one ,a electric fan blocks air flow for normal driving you could run both for best results ,Ted

Be aware that most electric fans draw more current than the system of old vehicles can provide. It requires a thermostatic switch and relay, as well. They come in "pusher" and "puller" types, so choosing the right one is important to match the application and position.

Had good success with a fan and shroud from www.oldaireproducts.com As I recall it was a little pricey and was 12 volts. It was part of a complete a/c package I got for my 52 F-1 many years ago. That was a SWEET unit and worked incredibly. Worth checking out their web site. If nothing else it may inspire you to do as the guys already suggested and fabricate your own. Price is a great motivator. Chap

I found a heavy gauge baking pan (cookie sheet) which fits my '50 Merc radiator perfectly. Bought a 16in Spal puller S blade fan. Used a Malco HC-2 hole cutter tool. Pan cost $12, the hole cutter was $82 from Amazon and fan was $155. I've not heard of anyone using 18in fan but whatever. Oh yes I got some aluminum angle for $15 to fasten pan/shroud to the radiator/frame.

Checkout the hole cutter tool-it's cool and there are you-tubes demonstrating it's use.

I put a Speedway shroud around the stock fan on my '41. It covered the top and sides but not the bottom. Made no perceptible difference in cooling at idle or at speed.
