Default Difference between Rear Main Seal Cap Kit and Seal Kit?

Going to be pulling oil pan off my 312 56 Country Sedan and researching how to replace main seal while I'm in there. Tons of information out there on procedures, what I couldn't find was what is the difference or reason to buy a Rear Main Seal Cap (billet cap or retainer) Kit or just go with Rear Main Seal Kit?

Overview explanation or links would be appreciated.

Thank you

They are two different subjects. The OEM retainer is cast and subject to past abuse and deforming. The billet retainer gives a more solid foundation for proper seal performance.
