Default 29 Tudor sunvisor question

Eight years ago when I first started restoring a 29 Tudor I purchased a repo sunvisor and cover from Mac's with the intention of installing them in the near future. Well, the near future turned out to be eight years later due to health issues.

So last week I decided to install the cover onto the metal sunvisor that I had to modify to fit properly. After a few tries I came to the conclusion that this cover was NOT going to fit onto this visor. I dug out the old cover just to compare the new with the old and I found that the old cover (even though it is not usable) fit onto the visor perfectly.

Now I have some questions. Look at the attached photos and tell me is the old cover more authentic than the new one? The seem on the old cover does not have the trim piece like the new cover. Which is correct?

Since I have already purchased one new cover from Mac's and it does NOT fit at all--where do I go to buy another cover?

Hi Fred
The original type cover is as your pic. on left with seam at leading edge. I had mine done nearly 50 years ago at the shop when the new top was put on. It still looks as new. I would try a local upholstery place rather than chance a repro cover.
Cheers - Tom.

Did the cars come new with fabric on the visor? I never knew they were covered or had the option.

Generally speaking, Closed Cars and Pickup: 1928-29 visor was fabric covered. 1930-31 visor was painted.
There might be some exceptions.?

We are working on a '28 pickup and replaced the visor and covering. Just as you found, the covering doesn't really fit. We had the new cover re-stitched and it now fits better, but not as well as one may expect.

Exceptions were the 3W Fordors by Murray & Briggs in 1929 with steel attached visor, but there was also a Fordor blindback [ non fabric back] in '29 with probably the steel visor as well. All others with the detachable fabric covered visor. Cheers. -Tom.
