Getting ready to buy SS PU truck bed hold downs. Bed is a ‘41 frame is a ‘42 -‘47. Only ones I see listed anywhere either for pre ‘41 or post ‘48?

Re: Correct Pickup bed hold down strips
The missing years had a stamped steel bed floor laid over wood planks. The stamped floor had the bed strips embossed. Most people cut this floor out when they do their 'restoration' as they want that varnished wood and stainless strip effect. I guess you just need to order strips for a '40. Someone here will know if they are the right size.

Re: Correct Pickup bed hold down strips
Thx, lengths I don't think will be an issue. It was the bolt holes provided on strips lining up with cross supports. They do make with no bolt hole strips to be drilled. guess I'll go with them.
Thx again.

Re: Correct Pickup bed hold down strips
When I put the wood in my '36 bed I ordered strips online and they pre-punched square holes for me in the locations I gave them dimensions for

Re: Correct Pickup bed hold down strips
If you are buying the stainless steel strips with no holes it will not be a lot of fun drilling all the needed holes. As I recall the edges of the strips fit into grooves that are cut into the wood. There is a gap between the boards and the bolts drop between the gaps and a large washer is on the bottom that spans the two boards. Then a lock washer and nut hold the washer against the boards. This how it was done on a Model A bed and also on an F-100 bed. If you are putting a '41 bed on a '42-47 frame you would use the bed wood kit and strips made for the bed. Some of the vendors who make beds also have the wood kits and strips already set up for your particular bed..

Re: Correct Pickup bed hold down strips
Thx 38bill, I checked out the Horky site & like the bolt-less skids with a built in track to slide tee bolts to any location. the clean look is nice.

Re: Correct Pickup bed hold down strips
Bruce Horky has been doing truck beds for a long time and he is good to work with. I purchased my bed wood and SS strips from him almost 20 years ago and he knows his stuff. Post some photos when you get a chance.
