Default PCV valve

I,m building a 265 ci engine, for a spare for the 33
I,m trying one of the Big 97 carbs, the only manifold I have that will allow the throats to be bored out to fit the larger carb throats is an alloy one from an 8ba.
it has a 3/8 npt port under the carb flange that conects to both barrels, and I thought this might be a good place to plug in a PCV valve, the other end can go into the front of the manifold where the oil fill tub used to be.
Any ideas what valve to use,and is it a worth wile addition.

use one for a 265/283/327 Chev. or a 289/302 ford. they are close enough in cubic inches that either should work fine.

My 276 uses one from a 4.0 Jeep motor. You can get a PCV grommet to fit the hole where the road draft tube went.....Mark

Pretty sure I got one that was for a toyota camry V6 Lawrie, was close to CI size. You might get lucky as suggested and find a grommet that will fill the draft tube or just drill one to suit up front , maybe create a little baffle underneath if required. I haven't tried mine yet as I went to the twin carb. Maybe winter I'll try it.. Dont forget to plug the draft.
This is timely as I was going to ask you how the BIG 97 went..

I can’t find my notes with the part number but, I used one for a Nissan of similar displacement and has pipe threads on a metal body. No gasket required.

PCV that replacesthe Road Draft tube. The vacuum port justbelow the carb on an iron 8BA intake uses 7/16 banjo threads. I bought a GM disc brake 7/16 banjo bolt and a 7/16 banjo to 3/8hose barb fitting (AKA 12mm banjo x 10mm barb). I am using a Motorcraft EV68 PCVvalve and a Dorman/Help 42052 Grommet.

Rob, I will look at the wreckers yard for one of a Commodore V6, should be easy to get.
I dont really want to block the draft tube,so I may slip a small square of shim brass under the oil pan gasket to block it off,so at least if the PCV doesnt work its and easy job to resurrect the draft tube.
I was going to draw from the hole on the inlet manifold where the oil filler used to be

Yup that sounds reasonable, I was going to do something similar with a rubber bung in the pan hole.
Let us know how the carb goes.

I have a couple of Fram ones that have npt threads that can screw into the manifold then you only have to run a hose to it. I used them on early sbc.
I’ll get the part number off one.

FV 100 FRAM This is the one that should thread into the intake. I used them on early sbc.

I think they are 1/4 npt thread so you would have to get a 3/8”x1/4” reducer bushing and i ran them horizontally with no problems. They also made them that flow in the opposite direction.
