1950 car door strikers
Will these and the '50 door latches bolt onto my '49?

Re: 1950 car door strikers
Not without a lot of modification! Outside door handles are different along with the latches and striker plates. I suppose it could be done but wouldn't it be easier to replace the 49 stuff with NOS even though they are very hard to find?

Re: 1950 car door strikers
I know the striker plates and latches are different, hence the question. I just wasnt sure if they'd bolt onto the car and if they did, if they'd work with my pull out door handles. I found a guy parting out a 50 with great prices. I'll most likely go rotary latches I just figured it would be easier and look more correct if they'd work

Re: 1950 car door strikers
49 latches were one year only, and weren't much good when new. 1950 latches are good but don't interchange with 49 unless a lot of sheet metal work is done.

Well that sucks. I was hoping the parts would interchange. My doors latch pretty good, but I'd rather not experience the day that they dont

Re: 1950 car door strikers
Mercury cars also changed in 1950. The star wheel set up works but it wasn't one of Fords better ideas. They are subjected to a lot of hard use and little or no service so they wear a lot over time.
