Burgie, there have been numerous posts here on how to remove '35-'36 gas tanks. See if you can find some of these previous posts by doing a search first rather than having someone outline all the steps necessary to remove them again here on this post. If you can't find them, come back and let us know and I will either find them for you or post the information again here.

I believe the worst step is lifting the body up a few inches. Nothing like doing... Which I haven't done on a 36

No need to lift body.

Well that's a good thing. I remember post though that mentioned it was tight though and some room was needed?

Go to "Search" and type in 36 Gas tank removal. Even a cave man could do it.

I will post as many as I can find on this thread. Keep checking back for updates. Some of these may be more helpful than others.

Just saw that Tony is posting these as well, so I will hold up on posting more. I am sure there are plenty more to be found but what has been already posted should be enough already. Good luck!

Just remove the 3 bolts, loosen the tailpipe so you can move it a little. Raise the tank about an inch on the drivers side and slide toward the left fender. There should be enough clearance on the passenger side now for the tank to drop down. It'll drop down on the passenger side enough for you to slide it over towards the passenger side, then the drivers side will drop down and it will be out. All that after the filler neck is off of course.

Yes, the filler neck has to come off first. The tank can then be muscled out no problem.
