Early 1935 Ford Pickup Cab Features
I am interested in learning more about what is dubbed the early 1935 ford cab.
Interesting features have been pointed out such as the two headliner supports, garnish moldings inside the doors, and the two metal trim pieces that cover the seam in between the headliner and back panels. I have seen photos of two 1935 pickups with a left side-side mount spare tire. Look forward to hearing what others have discovered.

Re: Early 1935 Ford Pickup Cab Features
A contributor shared last evening that the early cab did not have the windshield drain holes.
Apparently when the newly designed cab was produced they forgot to add it. It was added but he wasn’t sure when.

Re: Early 1935 Ford Pickup Cab Features
I have had a couple of the driver side running boards with a spare dimple for a 35-37 pickup over the years, but they were off of the vehicle when I purchased them, so I do not know if they were originally off of a 35, 36, or 37. I do know that one was purchased out of Nebraska and the other out of Kansas which isn't much help. The two small trim pieces you referenced came two different ways, one with the pieces tacked in place and the other with the pieces screwed in place.

The two sets I’ve seen thus far are screw on. As were the other trim pieces these were also painted gloss black.

Interesting observation Dean. I didn't know that. I hope all is well with you and yours.

Tim,
What are the two pieces you show in your picture and where do they mount on the cab? Dave |

Re: Early 1935 Ford Pickup Cab Features
Dave,
I do not have a photo to show you, but in this photo I have drawn in where it would be placed to finish off the seam where the two panels meet.

Re: Early 1935 Ford Pickup Cab Features
I have another pair of those cab corner trim pieces for the very early 35 cab truck cab for sale, just like Tim is talking about if anyone is interested.

Hi, Lawson. Doing okay. Haven't done much with my projects in recent years due to other things with greater priority that keep popping up. Guess there are many of us in that situation.

Re: Early 1935 Ford Pickup Cab Features
CA Victoria...I went out to the shop and checked the inside of my early 35 pickup cab. The pieces in question are not screwed in and have no screw holes. I don't remember what color they were originally and when I painted the inside and outside of the cab they got painted as well. I did paint the door garnish, windshield side garnish, rear window garnish, dash rail, and the upholstery strips gloss black.

All of my removable interior pieces have been gloss black. Can you snap a picture of your trim piece?

Re: Early 1935 Ford Pickup Cab Features
Tim,
Thanks for the reference photo, it makes sense. I have a later '35 cab and those corners are smooth molded pressed cardboard. I suppose they figured out how to make the cardboard fill the corner and eliminated the corner trim molding. Dave |

CA Victoria...I left town early Saturday morning and headed to Louisiana to help some of my relatives. I probably will not be back in SC until the middle of October or possibly a bit later.
