Default 56 Mercury Montclair

My 312 has a Carter Carb and the double vacuum advance. I removed the distributor six years ago. Now need help on routing the vacuum lines. One goes from the distributor to the manifold port below the carburetor, to either the top or bottom port on the distributor? The other vacuum line, I have (unfortunately) no idea. I sure could use some help! I have some Tbirds used the same system, but I am not sure.

This diagram might help you out? But it is for a Holley, not Carter...

The diagram supplied by Dmsfrr is good for the Carter WCFB on '56 Merc's too. The outer diaphragm goes to the brass fitting at the back/bottom of the carb(manifold vacuum), and the inner diaphragm goes to the front of the carb (ported/venturi vacuum).
