8BA stock lifters

I’m on the lookout in the UK for a set of stock lightweight lifters for an 8BA.
As a back up plan, who makes/supplies good quality new ones?

Those would be adjustable types. Ford never used the adjustable type in production. Folks out in the field liked the adjustables so a lot of NOS original non adjustables set on the parts shelves for many years. They still show up on flea-pay now and then.

That is true but the flea bay ones in that link are current production at topline. Look at the packaging.

How risky would it be to install previously used Ford OEM non-adjustable hollow lifters?

Is there a way of telling if they are too worn out to keep using?

Should they be flat across the bottom, concave or convex?

Can they be used ONLY with the original Ford cam that came with the engine at time of original factory engine assembly?

Or, can used lifters be used with another used cam?

Just curious.

Ford lifters should be flat.
If you surface the lifters they can be reused on a new cam as long as they aren´t worn to the point they are loosing their strength...or get to short from adjustment point of view...
I probably have a set of lifters here in Sweden.

Don't forget, they come in two lengths. the mid 51 Tru 53 are longer

The stock lifter is convex on the base. A used lifter can often be resurfaced and provide a new lifetime of service.

1- You should NOT reuse old lifters. Some people have gotten away with it but
it is a recipe for disaster.
2- See #1.
3- They should be convex. Originals were spherical. Modern ones are tapered.
The cam lobe is tapered to match. This is to make the lifter rotate for
minimum wear.
4- After reconditioning, they can be used anywhere but should NOT be used on a used cam.
5- See #1.

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm curious. What's the issue with using resurfaced or even new lifters on a used cam?

It's not a good idea, However, I've done it many timesand so far got away f\with it. I only us 45/50 Lbs of spring pressure and these are street d riven engines. But it's a crap shoot!!!

For just abut everything we use these cars for, "NO". The only place they may have an edge is fuel economy, which would be so small you probably wouldn't be able to detect it.

The 255 would have more torque which is good for a street engine.
