'31 S/W TS Glass ant-rattler or seal
I have been working on a 31 S/W Briggs Town Sedan. At the bottom of the window opening in the doors, there is a pretty wide space between the metal of the door and the glass both inside and outside of the glass. I was told there should be a weather strip or anti-rattler that fits into a slot in the door frame to help close this area's gap.
Is this true and if so, where can this material be sourced? I made a quick scan of the window channel area of the current Snyder's catalog and did not see it listed. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Good Day! |

There should be a small slot in about the center of the garnish moulding. It would be facing the glass. There is a rubber bumper that inserts in that slot for the anti-rattle purpose.
Those are mostly V-8 parts but i think most A parts houses have them. Try Steve out at Bert's 800-321-1931 |

The only place I could find them for my 31 Victoria was Bob Drake, listed for a 32 Victoria. I bought several and can send you some. Send a PM or email.

Not sure what is meant by a slot. The SW sedans had a weatherstrip with a lip facing the inside of glass which was the glass setting channel to keep out drafts when the window was fully up.. Am not aware of any separate weatherstrip on the outside gap as water went down the door inside and drained out the bottom and at the rear quarter windows in the back corners. The vendors have this special glass setting channel profile.

Re: '31 S/W TS Glass ant-rattler or seal
the SW four doors did NOT have the anti rattles, only the Victoria`s and A400 had them.
there is nothing that goes in that big opening. I know it does not look right, but that is the way it is. let me rephrase, the rubber glass setting rubber for all SW bodies was made in away to work as a seal. |

Re: '31 S/W TS Glass ant-rattler or seal
The attached document was written a number of years ago for the Victoria Association. On the last page is a description of the glass bumpers. They were used only on the Victoria and the A-400. Model A suppliers do not carry then. However, they were carried over in the 32 cars. The V8 suppliers sometimes carry them. I was able to purchase some from the V8 supplier near San Diego. They are identified in the article.
