I'm sure those vehicles will be running and looking as good, if not better than Henry intended!

I don't know about the guy leaning over the 36' Roadster, but his assistant sure is cute. The CIGAR CITY FLATHEADS really know how this car stuff should be...

I got lucky today! I went out to the '51 F-1 to stash a few things for the cruise up to Dawsonville, Georgia tomorrow. I was greeted with an almost flat rear tire. I did a visual check and found a large nail in the tread. I jacked up the rear, pulled the nail and plugged the tire. After that, I took a closer look at the rear tires (the fronts are fairly new) and decided that it would be a good idea to swap the rears out for two new tires. Now we should really be good to go...

Glad you were able to catch that today. Good for you on those new rear tires. Marilyn and I are looking forward seeing you and the others tomorrow morning. Steve

Good eye Mart but, that's not me, he has a much better tan... The tires are the same size I already had on the rear, P235R/75R15's. the fronts are P205R/75Rx15's.
Steve, I'm looking forward to seeing you and Marilyn as well. It'll be a nice change having some of the ladies along for the ride. see you at 0800.

I'm back down to earth, after having a real blast on the White Knuckle Tour and at the Moonshine Festival last weekend. Now, I'll turn my attention to the '51 F-1 and remove the intake manifold to install the one that Kiwi Tony's friend "Rabbit" gave me, complete with a fresh paint job and full set of gaskets. As you know, if you've been following the Moonshine Festival thread, the stud that supports the generator and fan assembly sheered off on the way to the Moonshine Festival. Lucky for me, it happened in a gas station on the exit for "Big Daddy" Don Garlits Museum. They were kind enough to let the '51 stay there for the weekend.

This past Saturday we played in the garage, working on Don's '50 Rag Top and installing the intake manifold on my '51 F-1 Pickup. Thanks again to Kiwi Tony and Rabbit for their help, and the intake manifold. On Sunday we attended a Pre Thanksgiving Charity Car Show. We drove the '39 Convertible Sedan (with the top down) even though the temps were defiantly chilly. Keith drove one of his Roadsters (also with the top down) and Mike showed up on his Motorcycle... All in all, it was a fun day with lots of cool cars/trucks to look at.

Yesterday (on my lunch hour) I reinstalled the generator, fan assembly and repolarized the voltage regulator on the '51 F-1. Clearly, that system of the generator and fan assembly mounting was NOT one of Fords 'better ideas'! The good (or bad) thing is, I have a lot of experience changing out those assemblies... Just another one of the joys of working on Flatheads. Now, everything is back in working order on the '51. Time for some driving fun!

Vic, glad to hear you got the '51 back up and running! I'll bet that newly painted manifold looks great. Good job!

Thanks Gene, The '51 cranked right up and nothing was leaking so, I guess that was a successful swap... We'll see.

Hi Bruce, this weekend we will be playing in the garage again. Last weekend my niece got married so there was no time. I've been reading about your rewire of the '39 LZ with respect to the ignition resistors. My LZ had been converted to 12 volts negative ground with a one wire alternator before I got it. I kept the 12 volt system but installed a generator (converted to 12 volts) and voltage regulator, along with having the coil redone by Skip Haney. As for the ignition resistors, the 12 volt conversion, that had been done, used the OEM resistors with an additional late model Chrysler resistor in the circuit. I've replicated what had been done, as it worked fine however, I haven't fired the car up yet! I hope to finish the installation of the headlight switch and instrument cluster this weekend, as well as get some additional work done on Don's '50 rag top. After that, it's PIZZA time!

This past weekend we did get some Flathead play time in, we installed the front brakes and master cylinder on Don's '50 Rag Top and buttoned up the distributor, fan belt, etc. on the '39 LZ. I still have some loose ends to connect on the LZ's wiring so, we had to push it off of the lift and push Don's '50 on, so we could work on the underside... All that pushing made us hungry so... We went for PIZZA

Slightly off topic, but I think most of you will find it interesting. A friend and neighbor of mine bought a 200+ year old barn in the North East and had it dismantled and shipped to the Tampa area, where it is being reconstructed, to be used as a home and garage. I took a few photos of the barn with our '51 parked outside, but I haven't put them on the computer yet... I can tell you that it is very cool... I'll post a few photos soon.

If it is 200 years old , it is one of very few left. In Connecticut there are less than 50 18th century barns documented .
Most barns built 200 years ago have been lost to neglect or urban sprawl.

It came from New Hampshire and was documented. I'll post some photos later this week.
